Marc Sparks is a successful entrepreneur that credits his faith for his success. He is not afraid of losing it all and is happy with what is most important, his health, great family and friends, and making his team and customers happy.
Marc Sparks graduated from high school in 1975 and is from Austin, Texas. He was an average C+ student with an enormous drive to be successful. He believes God has kept him humble and he still remembers some of the lowest times in his life. He will never forget the time he had to buy groceries at a Texaco gas station. Although he was poor, money wise, he was still passionate and optimistic at what life had to offer.
Marc has been successful at building companies that most often others shy away from those ideas. He owns a private equity firm called timber Creek Capital, LP. There he maintains an open door policy. If an employee has something they need to discuss, they can go right into his office without having to worry about setting up a meeting.
Marc authored a book called, They Can’t Eat You, which details his failures. He chose to detail his failures rather than his successes because he felt there was more for someone to learn in his failures than in his successes.
When asked if he is afraid of losing, his answer is no. Although he enjoys being successful, losing keeps him humble and only strengthens his faith in God. He also feels his faith keeps him fearless. He does not really worry about anything. Yes, he is wealthy financially, but he believes he is wealthy through his good health, family, friends, and making his business and customers happy. That is all he could ever ask for.
His best traits as a successful entrepreneur are faith, passions, tenacity, focus, savvy at monetization, and an outrageous sense of urgency. He also treats everyone how he would want to be treated, with respect, fairness, and honesty. He believes these qualities can make anyone successful.
Marc Sparks also has a charitable side to him. He contributes immensely to a homeless shelter in Texas called The Samaritan Inn. He is involved in Habitat for Humanity. He supports the American Can! Academy and has his own foundation called “Sparky Kids”. Sparky Kids has given many at risk children computers to help them break the cycle of poverty.
Marc enjoys the outdoors on his free time. Hunting, fishing, and traveling are some of his favorite activities. Traveling especially has given him many ideas as it has allowed him to see the world differently. It is inspiring. Learn more: http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/marcsparks
