Sujit Choudhry comments in a workshop held to discuss challenges facing presidential system in Ukraine

Sujit Choudhry is a visionary leader. He is the director of the Center for Constitutional Transitions. The organization comprises of legal and constitutional experts from different parts of the globe who come together to give their input on various constitutional issues affecting multiple countries.

His organization uses various methods to create awareness of the constitutional making process across different parts of the globe. Sujit graduated with a degree in law from the University of Oxford. He has conducted extensive research on constitution making process where he specializes in emerging democracies. He has aided the development of constitutions in various countries and even lectured Law in more than 25 countries. Recently, Choudhry joined other experts in Ukraine to discuss the challenges facing the Ukrainian semi-presidential system. The summit was organized by several agencies both private and the public that support constitutional reforms. The workshop was attended by notable figures from the Ukraine government, corporate executives and legal and constitutional experts. Sujit was given an opportunity to address the workshop where he highlighted the numerous challenges facing the presidential system in Brazil. Sujit noted that one of the leading challenges facing the Ukrainian presidential system is the concentration of power in the presidency. Too much influence on the executive has weakened other arms of the government thereby resulting in an unstable presidential system.

Sujit Choudhry also noted that another significant challenge in the Ukrainian system is the weak political parties that do not efficiently perform their role of putting the executive on their toes.
