Sujit Choudhry is the founding director of the Center for Constitutional transactions. The Center works with a network of international partners to create evidence-based policy solutions research and decision making as well as mobilize knowledge that helps in the constitutional building. So far, the organization has partnered with more than fifty experts from over twenty-five years.
After working as a constitutional adviser for many years, Sujit Choudhry discovered the need for experts to build constitutional knowledge and help in the transition. He has helped draft and amend constitutions in emerging countries such as Egypt, Sri Lanka, Ukraine and South Africa. Even after implementation, he notes that questions arise on the relevance of the knowledge generated. Sujit Choudhry has an extensive international experience in legal, public policy and political issues. He holds three law degrees from the Harvard Law School, the University of Toronto and Oxford University. He was born in India but later moved to the United States.
Sujit Choudhry also served as the Dean of the School of law at the University of California, Berkeley. He has done consultancy work for the UNDP and the World Bank. Choudhry is part of the United Nations Mediation Roaster. Global exposure has thought him to listen intently to the people on the ground as they are aware of their needs and current situation.
