Sujit Choudhry Stresses the Importance of Comparative Constitutional Law

The Director of the Center for Constitutional Transitions Sujit Choudhry was recently interviewed by Lynn Fosse of CEOCFO Magazine.

Choudhry incorporates other stakeholders such multilateral organizations, NGOs, and think tanks among others to increase the effectiveness of the center. The center is currently working on three research projects whose research findings will be out soon. Choudhry says that, if he had the ability he would form a body that organizes and hosts significant constitutional case-law from around the world.

Choudhry suggests that constitutional democracies are in crises. He affirms that the US, one of the world’s largest democracies, is no different from other democracies experiencing challenges. Choudhry states that nations should learn from each other through comparative experience.

Choudhry’s job involves working with different people with different cultures. However, he finds no challenge working with others as he is a good listener. He believes that by listening to people, he gets to understand what is going on and what the people want.
