When it comes to matters relating to constitutional reforms, there is need for a deep understanding of the composition, values and beliefs of a state. A few people are acquainted to this knowledge and one of them is Sujit Choudhry.
He was among the team that was currently looking in the Ukraine’s government semi-presidential system. He talked about some of the challenges that the system was experiencing such as weak political parties.
He serves as the Director of The Centre for Constitutional Transition which mobilizes and generates knowledge that supports constitutional building. In some of the countries that have undergone democratic transition, Sujit has been there to guide on how to go about issues related to ethnic divisions. This is his way of promoting democracy and helping others to change their perception on transition.
His mind is one of the greatest and Sujit took his education from Harvard School of Law and Oxford University for his Master’s Law degree and his bachelor’s Law degree respectively. As a result of his performance in matters to do with comparative constitutional law, Sujit made it to be the first Indian-American dean at the University of California. The professor has carried out many researches relating to comparative law. He has used the knowledge acquired from such researches in his leadership role and at the University where he lectures. The knowledge is also applied in countries where he gets involved in matters relating to democratization.
As a result of his work, Sujit has received several awards from institutions and countries he has worked for.
