The Life and Career of Raj Fernando

Raj Fernando has been a founder of various companies in his illustrious career. Currently, he is the chief executive officer of Scoutahead. Before the Scoutahead venture, he had founded the Chopper trading company where he was also the chief executive officer. He founded the chopper trading in the year 2002. He is currently based in Chicago, IL. His exemplary love for business showed early while still in college where he worked as a volunteer at the Chicago Merchandize Exchange. During his time here, he rose to different positions before rising to the Chicago Board of Trade for ten years (1991-2001). Raj Fernando holds a bachelor’s degree from the prestigious Beloit College with a degree in economics and history. Raj Fernando has also spent some time at the University College of London studying there.

Raj Fernando was able to grow the small venture into a huge one employing over 250 employees. During this period, the company was also to trade in CME, as well as ICE, LSE, ICAP-Broketek and even in Cantor Fitzgerald-espeed. He was also a supporter of the US Commodity Trading Futures Commission as it sought to foster an opens and competitive as well as a transparent and financially sound market system. This is evident when he spoke as a panelist on one of the companies discussions. Raj Fernando decided to sell Chopper trading in 2015 to DRW which is also based in Chicago.

Early this year, he founded the Scoutahead, an internet startup. This internet startup by Raj Fernando is aimed at developing and improving professional and corporate growth as well as productivity. This is achieved by using secure and advanced communication systems. Not only is Raj Fernando a businessman and an entrepreneur, but he is also a philanthropist and supports various causes across the US and also locally in Chicago. He is currently on the board of trustees of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He is also on the board of directors of a no-kill animal shelter foundation known as the PAWS Chicago. Foundations that he has supported in the previous past include the Clinton Foundation, the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago as well as Wounded Warriors.
